Civil Rights

The Africans were first discovered long ago, and thought to be inferior to the white people who found them, due to skin color, and the fact that they s did not speak the same way. They were taken from Africa and mad to be slaves. They had no rights. For many years that stayed the same. America became a major slave country. Some people thought it was wrong. They though of the slaves as what they were. People. The idea was hated by many. They were property, not persons. This was a major factor in the civil war. The war that freed the slaves, and gave them rights as civilians. Or did it. Many years later, in 1954, the abuse was no longer tolerable. Discrimination had taken the place of domination, and it was only slightly less beastly. Being denied of their rights prevented them from the everyday comforts that they might have had. They were denied of jobs and opportunities. Their constitutional rights were violated, like in 1954, in Brown v Board of Education. The 14th amendment was violated. And it was again violated with the arrests of Rosa Parks, and for the same crime, Claudette Colvin. The rights were taken away from the black civilians.
