Seattle residents threw firebombs, broke windows, and hit people with rocks in response to M.L.K’s murder.
Rally at Garfield High disrupted by stones and firebombs.
1969
Respected African American leader, Edwin Pratt shot to death in his own home. The murder was never solved.

Seattle school Board plans to eliminate segregation by fall 1979

Seattle is the largest city to desegregate voluntarily
